Yu-Hsuan Chen is a Los Angeles based set and production designer born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. She received her MFA in Design for Stage and Film at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. Working among theater, film, TV, event and exhibition, she is always excited to work with collaborators to tell stories through space and visuals, creating a world for compelling souls to live in. 

 

Her film credits include the production designer of feature film "American Girl" (美國女孩), which won 5 awards in the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, including the non-competition Audience Choice Award and the International Federation of Film Critics Prize. (Golden Horse Film Festival is considered the biggest film festival in the Mandarin-speaking world)  She is also nominated for Best Art Design in the 2022 Taipei Film Festival.

Her production design "Palm Trees and Power Lines " premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, where it won an award for Directing, Editing and Screenwriting in the U.S. Dramatic Competition.

Her production design "JIE-JIE" won the HBO Asian Pacific American Visionary Award and is distributed by HBO.

Production design Fashion film "Stuck Inside" is screened in Paris at the A Shaded View on Fashion Film festiva and took down the emerging talent award.

Production design "Pregnant" won Best Production Design in First Run Festival. Production design "Music Everywhere" is shortlisted at the AICP Awards and won a prize at the Porsche Ad Awards in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

Selected theater credits include: Measure For Measure (The Public Mobile Unit), Our Dear Dead Drug Lord (WP Theater / 2nd Stage), Paradise Blue (Long Wharf Theatre, CT), What To Send Up When It Goes Down (ART/NY Theatre, NYC), The Homecoming Queen & Nomad Motel (Atlantic Theater Company, NYC), Dancing at Lughnasa & M. Butterfly & Great Expectations (Everyman Theatre, MD), Dying In Boulder (La MaMa, NYC) Inanimate & Locked Up Bitches (The Flea Theater, NYC), Agnus (The Lion Theatre, NYC), SKiNfolK (Ars Nova, NY) and many more.

She was also the associate set designer on SIX the Musical, and assistant set designer on Broadway shows including The Nap, Tootsie and Kiss Me Kate.

Her design for "Our Dear Dead Drug Lord" won the 2020 Obie Award for Outstanding Set Design and is nominated for 2020 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Set Design.

陳昱璇,劇場舞台設計與電影場景設計師。畢業於紐約大學Tisch劇場及電影設計研究所,

臺灣大學戲劇系。現居洛杉磯,從事電影、電視、劇場、策展及視覺相關設計。

美術指導長片《美國女孩》於第34屆東京國際影展中首映並入圍「亞洲未來」單元。該片入圍第58屆金馬獎7個獎項,其中最佳新導演、最佳新演員、最佳攝影3項獲獎,並於非正式競賽的觀眾票選最佳影片、國際影評人費比西獎2項勝出。且於第24屆台北電影獎入圍12個獎項,包含最佳美術設計。

於美國拍攝多部影片並入選許多國際影展,其中美術指導短片作品《姊姊》獲得世界三大短片電影節之一的「東京國際短片節」最佳觀眾票選獎、「高雄電影節」評審團特別獎、HBO亞裔美國人視野獎,目前由美國HBO發行。

劇場設計作品橫跨紐約大小劇場、外百老匯及美國多州地方劇場。舞台設計《Our Dear Dead Drug Lord(我們親愛的大毒梟)》獲得外百老匯聯盟 2020 奧比獎(Obie Awards)最佳舞台設計獎,以及露西爾羅特爾獎(Lucille Lortel Awards)最佳舞台設計獎提名。

曾參與多部百老匯製作包括《Six》、《Tootsie(窈窕淑男)》、《Kiss Me Kate(刁蠻公主)》、《The Nap》、《Pretty Woman(麻雀變鳳凰)》等。

美國劇場與電影設計師公會Local USA 800 和 829會員。
